I think you can tell a lot about a writer’s style by what names he picks for his/her characters, things and places.

As a fan of both Quentin Tarantino and Elmore Leonard I am compelled to point out that Max Cherry was actually a name created by Leonard in his novel Rum Punch. This was later adapted by Tarantino into the woefully underrated film Jackie Brown.
Some other exceptional Elmore Leonard names include Mr. Majestyk, Virgil Royal, Richie Nix and Chili Palmer.
