My brother found this book in an art museum in Hartford, Connecticut:
http://www.amazon.com/Stick-Great-Moments-History-More/dp/0307338592
Which breaks my heart, since it is perilously close to a series of stick figure drawings I’ve had on my wall for a few years:
It’s too simple an idea for it to be truly plagarized. I wish it was though! Because I feel saddened as if a great advertising jingle were stolen from my secret files! However, if the guy who wrote this book starts a low-rent kids show called “The Fun Team,” then I’m calling a lawyer.
Also, I don’t totally agree with his depiction of American Gothic, displayed on the front page of his book.

He uses too many lines. With stick figures, it’s all about complete reduction.

Plus mine’s funnier because they look more sad.

Your Last Supper is still the best. The guy bending over to whisper makes it great.

That is awesome that you have those drawings on your wall.
I think that goes into the “I wish I had thought of that” pile.

If it makes you feel any better, I know your drawings pre-date this book by a long shot. Heck I wouldn’t be surprised one of your stick drawings predated the painting it represents. I suppose that’s unlikely but you know what I mean. I’ve been enjoying your stick drawings for years and will boycott purchasing this book because of it.

The best stick figures ever were drawn by Sam Brown for http://www.explodingdog.com... You can email him a title and he’ll draw a stick figure picture and post it.

I prefer the hand-drawn quality of yours, Will. This guy’s look like they were drawn on an etch-a-sketch. Too many straight lines and block shapes. No personality.

Harford has an art museum?

Yours are better cause your stick figures don’t have any eyes.
That guy is a theif!

The Wadsworth, Jim. I was quite surprised by the quality and the amount of stuff. I expected local artists, or unknowns. But… they had Van Gough, Picasso, Dali, and John Trumball’s original paintings (of 4 copies he made i think) of famous American art. It was quite impressive.

The ones on the book DO look like they were done in MS Paint… that’s retarded.
Both American Gothics are missing the essential detail though — the gothic window in the barn behind the couple. That’s why it’s called American Gothic.

Yeah his are too much…like a game of “Hangman” you don’t want to lose so you add extra stuff like ears and feet and eyeglasses. Feh! Yours are way cooler.

Yours are much better. I am in art school so I say this with authority.
