Classy Danbury Burglars

The police log of my hometown newspaper reports that a man broke into someone’s house and clipped his pubic hair there. Then he felt guilty and confessed.

UCBComedy: Microsoft’s New Smart Phone

Microsoft’s New Smart Phone. Another fun ucbcomedy video I had nothing to do with! Written by Chris Wilkes and Addison Anderson. Directed by Guy Patton. Shot/edited by John Kingman.

I Gripped The Crap Out Of This Video

The Ballad of G.I. Joe I was a grip on this. I gripped the crap out this. Well at least for the Julianne Moore and Billy Crudup segments (yes, they were both very nice). In my case “grip” meant I stood in the tech booth of UCBT and turned on the lights and played a CD player so Julianne Moore [...]

Harold Night Time Machine

I almost deleted this post like ten times. But screw it, what else is a blog for but this kind of self-indulgent proclamation? Non-UCBT-improv nerds should certainly skip the rest of this entry.

————

I’m very excited for Harold Night Time Machine tonight. Creep, Arsenal, Dillinger, fwand — each one undisputedly the best team on Harold Night while they were around. For all the weirdness and clunkiness that a Harold can bring out of an improv group, when it’s working it’s magic and these teams were all magic. As an old man of this community, I’m invoking my right (as I always do) to tell war stories of when I witnessed the greatness as it happened. If I overstate, it’s [...]

Breakfast Club Director’s Cut

Rest in Peace, John Hughes! You made many excellent movies.

An unintentional tribute: the day before Hughes died Craig Rowin shot this video of Andy’s Monologue from Breakfast Club. It is very hilarious and Noah Plener’s performance is great!

“outrageously hairy”

Nice pass behind Craig’s head, Brandon. Edited: Craig filmed his head on a greenscreen and edited it in. It was Brandon’s idea but Craig’s editing craftiness. Tough to give proper credit in today’s technological wonderland.

Wig Awards

Big one from UCBComedy: Wig Awards. I wish I had done this one! I did not. Written by Gil Ozeri and Gavin Speiller. Directed by Mitch Magee. Shot by Todd Bieber. Edited by Nate Dern. Visual Effects by Ed Mundy. Starring a hundred funny people!

Top Ten Comic Book Cities for Architecture

1206632_cartoons_fromhell2web

The Architects’ Journal released a list of the top ten comic book cities for architecture. Some points:

  • I’m glad they picked specific artist’s renditions for things like Metropolis, which have been drawn by hundreds of people.
  • I love their rave of David Mazzuchelli’s New York in the 80s Daredevil series Born Again – a series I had the pleasure of buying as it came out, same year as Dark Knight and Watchmen.
  • I wish they mentioned that Jamie Hernandez drew Mister X for a while

Would Mister Glasses agree with this list? (via BoingBoing and Drawn!)
