Continuing with our "Information That Bores Everyone" series, here's a brief history of Spite, starting from the most recent major event, and working backwards.

December 3, 1999 After arguing with Will on the messages board, KillerQueen retires from Spite.
Septmber 17, 1998 Will posts first version of stupid timeline.
August 1998 Will quietly admits that he and Bradford are the same person. Stadley sends in an email, claiming that Will is merely trying to wrongfully take credit for Bradford's writing.
June 1998 After an email battle with Will, Jill swears to never write for Spite again.
April 21, 1998 B&W Spite Spite changes to simplified black and white ("mouth") version. Editor's notes, comics section added.
April 14, 1998 Spite misses its weekly deadline for the first time. It never resumes a regular schedule again.
February 1998 First article by Killer Queen is published.
February 2, 1998 Spite publishes its first Jill Waldbieser article.
January 13, 1998 First Bitter Guy cartoon.
January 1998 Spite e-mail reminders begin. Will starts to wonder why he promised to published every Tuesday.
January 6, 1998 Spite makes its first Noel Gallagher joke. Brian will later take that to a very funny extreme.
November 18, 1998 After an email battle with Will, Stadley swears to never write for Spite again.
November 17, 1997 DayGlo Spite Spite changes to day-glo ("cartoon guy") version. Spite pledges to publish every Tuesday. Spite divides its content up into sections.
September 1997 Spite message board first appears. Trouble, Goodgy, Truth Dealer (originally the Bad Frog) and Hugh Chardon start posting messages.
August 1997 A Czech Republic magazine and a Hungarian magazine review Spite. We can't read what they said about us.
July 1997 Kevin gets boring desk job, thus freeing up his time to help with Spite. Spite is named as top ten sites of the month in Internet Underground magazine. The magazine is then cancelled.
May 1997 Yahoo! adds Spite to its database, and Will publishes an article on Hanson. These two events boost Spite's hit count tremendously.
April 15, 1997 Spider Spite Spite changes to red and white ("spider") version.
April 1997 Will secures the spitemag.com domain.
December 1996 Original Spite Spite makes its debut. First motif is the black and red "Alanis" version. First piece by Stadley Rough. Almost no one sees this version except for Will and his friends.
November 1996 Will tells Claire Delaware how he always wanted to make a zine, but he never has any ideas. After a Seinfeld episode, Claire suggests Spite as a name. "If nothing else, you'll have a cool name." She chooses the original Spite font. Will begins Spitemag, still lacking any original ideas.
