So what can you do? Well, beat the rush: get paranoid now. And start learning how to throw the Man off track.
First of all, you can HIDE information about yourself, through a few good habits:
- Pay in cash, never credit cards.
- Get yourself off of mailing lists.
- Request your credit report frequently. It lists who else has requested it. Sue them.
- Get a satellite dish. Well, cable boxes are not tracked. But they probably could be.
- If you weaken and make a credit card purchase, never, ever, sign those electronic pads.
- When subscribing to one magazine, don't use a "drop card" from another one. They'll know where it came from. Call the magazine directly instead.
That gets you part way. Trouble is, as technology improves, so will The Man's ability to find you. Eventually, you won't be able to avoid giving up information.
But what you CAN do, is give them BAD information.
