Two Honest Looks at
Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace
By Brian Hines and Bill Bellamy

I found that Star Wars Episode One - The Phantom Menace proved to be a movie that should be seen by all. I've read the reviews about it being too slow, having annoying characters, or having too much special effects. But in my opinion, it was a fine movie.

First off I thought the characters were great in this movie. Seeing Obi Wan Kenobi being portrayed as a young and somewhat arrogant Jedi Knight was a nice contrast to the older Ben Kenobi of Star Wars. Liam Neeson was the perfect choice for Obi-Wan's master, and gave a performance of a teacher who was always in control, and always having faith in the force. Natalie Portman gave a convincing performance as a Queen searching for ways to save the lives of her people by avoiding war at all costs. This cast of characters did a great job setting up events that are soon to come in the future of the Star Wars movies.

Of course the special effects in this movie were mind-boggling. Just as in the original Star Wars, George Lucas found a way of making the unbelievable believable. The landscapes of the different planets in this movie looked as realistic as photographs from a National Geographic. With the help of computer generated images, this movie was able to feature entire armies on the move, vehicles that defy the laws of physics, and a new slew of aliens for the Star Wars universe.

Finally, the one thing that made this movie worth seeing were the action sequences. The light saber fight scene seemed to make the money I spent on admission worth every penny. Any time Ewan McGregor and Liam Neeson were engaged in battle I felt the desire to stand and cheer.

In conclusion, I say ignore what you've heard and go see this movie on your own whims and without biases.

Hey there, this is Bill Bellamy and welcome to my review of Star Wars Episode One - The Phantom Menace.

Let me just say that this movie was phat! Oh man, with the lasers and people and fighting! Oh, and of course there was Yoda. Boyeeee, I love that Yoda guy. He makes me laugh anytime I hear him talk. "Oh, yes. Force you have" Ha, hah. Man oh man.

But now let me tell you about the special effects in this movie. Hooo boy! I have never seen stuff like they had in this movie. I mean, it was dope!

Now let's not forget my main man Ewan McGregor! His light saber fighting was bad! I mean bam, boom, bwow! I tell you, I would not like to fight him and his light saber. Unless maybe of course my man Yoda trained me or something. Then it would a bit more fair. Of course I would use that force thing to make Mariah Carey go to dinner with me. Naw, I'm just playin'. Ha, ha, hee, hee.

But seriously, this movie was most definitely the bomb!
