My calves were killing me by the time Obama took the stage. After the hassles of the Pepsi Center I figured there was no way I’d get into to Mile High Stadium. But after a long shuttle bus ride (Ted Koppel was on my bus) and the usual security checks, my credentials got me right onto the field for one-hour visits (which I could renew without difficulty). I was excited! Even a political non-believer like me wanted to see the first time a black American accepted the presidential nomination. This required me finding “two Latino guys.” It’s embarrassing to ask your friends “can you guys recommend any Latino guys?” I knew the improv community was dominated by white boys, but this was hilariously tough. I had conversations like this: “Well, so-and-so is Latino-ish” and I’d say “No, they need to be no-doubt-about-it Latino.” Oh, and they need to not mind singing and performing a song parody tomorrow morning for no money! We ended up going with two guys who work in a department called AOL Latino — and they did great!
