Today I am searching for clips on YouTube of American Idol judges making catty comments. I can’t use audition segments — has to be about the contestants. It’s harder than you’d expect. Not you would have before this moment made an estimation over how difficult that particular task would be.
Edited to add: Here’s what I got: http://news.aol.com/newsbloggers/2008/01/30/democratic-debate-idols/
Sunday morning. So far my day’s accomplishments are this: I have set my DVR to record Garth Merengi’s “Darkplace.” It’s all gravy from here, folks!
I got cable installed in my apartment yesterday. I hadn’t had it in — maybe three years? Time Warner is a horrible company, but I needs my high-speed connection. A weird part of TWC is it seems that the only deal close to fair is getting all three service — phone, cable and internet. Getting a subset of the three seems to be not that much cheaper. They want us all on the hook for everything, and I’m falling for it!
Brothers Hines lost Cagematch, but we had a fun show that we enjoyed. Kevin initiated every scene in our show, and I think I edited all but one. That’s how we do. I’ve come to believe that our shows are [...]
There is (was?) a British sitcom called The IT Crowd and we watch it at my office (someone bit torrents it or something). It is a very surreal look at 3 IT employees in an enormous corporation. Besides the awesome mix of surreal and deadpan humor — the main office is littered with Fantagraphic comic books. In some episode we watched yesterday, the main character (a woman named Jen) was sitting at her desk reading an issue of Love and Rockets. I yelped in my rolling chair with delight.
I have no graphics or video clips or screenshots to back any of this up. Just find the show and watch it.
Edited: I DO have screenshots and a video now!

Latest media obsession: Battlestar Galactica. I’m almost done with season one.
Latest project: Yoga
Latest I-feel-left-out-of-this: the NFL. I know nothing about football.
Latest song I am Freedying: “Dying Day” by Orange Juice and “This Charming Man” by The Smiths.
This post is just to knock the previous one back a bit.
- Brothers Hines in Cagematch tonight. Let’s keep it going. We have a new time-out, for people into that sort of thing.
- Almost done with Confess, Fletch! Endorsed by Kevin Hines
- Three episodes into The Wire, which I am watching just so I understand what Erik Tanouye is blathering about. The title of this blog post is a reference to that show. So now I am included.
- Channel 102 is next Wednesday. That’s something. I am interested in seeing the next episode of Welcome To Our House.
- Best Mr. Show sketch ever? “24 Is The Highest Number.” Don’t fuck with me on this.
- Kevin pointed out this cartoon of TMBG as superheroes. I enjoy it.
I got a new television: a 23″ HD flat-screen (via LCD technology, not plasma).
This was originally just one point among several in this post, but the purchase of a new television has garnered more interest than anything else in my life so I thought I would separate it out into its own post. A little tiny kingdom in my blog, just to commemorate that I’ve bought a television. People are fascinated by televisions, especially when you start throwing around terms like “flat screen” and “high-def.” I feel like I had a baby, everyone around me is so happy.
Let me spell this out: I don’t know anything about television. I bought my last TV in 1996 and it was [...]
