Here’s the second of UCBT-NY original videos. Bad Company Fudge Company. Written by Geoff Garlock, Directed/Edited by Craig Rowin, Starring Jim Santangeli, show by Todd Bieber.
Great job, guys! Craig Rowin’s videos are always hilariously weird. And Geoff Garlock is hands-down the best Bad Company sketch writer in the business. Hoping to get one a week published from here on out. We’ll see.
This is M. Night Shyamalan Burger, a UCB Comedy Original we shot last night. It’s based on a sketch Charlie Sanders wrote up. Brandon Bassham got us a location last night, Bieber shot it then I edited it. A 24-hour turnaround from when Anthony King gave us the script. Pretty cool. This is Ray Munoz as M. Night — and he does a great job.
Bieber pointed out that it isn’t THAT far off from the American Express commercial M. Night did. I mean, we did a “Be Kind Rewind” version, but still.
My blog can’t handle its widescreen awesomeness.

I love the typeface used for “The Darryl Strawberry” show, and the idea that Darryl dances at the end of his show.

Editor Dave Kovenetsky and I stand in to test lighting in the AOL Studio. I think this would make a great cover for the all keyboard prog rock album Dave and I want to make called “Hines and Kovenetsky: Journey to Aurora.”
Tabitha and I saw August: Osage County last night. Here’s a shocking opinion: I think it’s good! It long (3 hours and 10 minutes plus two ten minute intermissions) but you don’t notice it. The characters are instantly interesting all by themselves and also begin f*cking with each other in compelling ways. My one very minor quibble is that I started to be aware that everyone in the family [...]
DeCoster and I represent the UCB’s commitment to new comedy in today’s issue of AM New York. Above is from our sketch “Harpooned” which opens Seven Fights. Thanks to Dyna for making that harpoon look pretty good! We’re not credited in the caption so I will do that here: “Matt DeCoster questions why Will Hines won’t comment on allegations that he has been harpooned.”
Separately, I’m doing stand-up tonight at 8pm at Pianos. Come check me out, friends.
The UCBT site has a pretty great new design.
Self-indulgently: here’s my first Harold (Muscle) and first sketch show. Here’s one of my favorite shows of all time (suggestion: fishwater). The last night in the old theater. The Ian/Ali improv show (11pm) show was not to be missed. The final episodes of Gemberling and My Wife The Ghost. My brother’s Harold team Filth beats Respecto.
Er, it’s not quite as impressive as looking through pages from centuries-old issues of The New York Times, I know.
I have a small but fun part in Ben Schwartz’ new video “The Break-Up.” Check it out! Also with Sarah Burns, Eugene Cordero, Sue Galloway and Winston Noel.
Sorry this blog has gotten so pluggy.

Mine and DeCoster’s sketch show — Seven Fights — goes up one last time tomorrow, Friday Feb. 8 at SEVEN PM. We’re gonna tape it. Two things:
- Please come see it! I know many of you have and thank you. But if anyone could stop by tomorrow we could use you. We’ve evolved the show over its run and this is a nice final draft version. It’s shorter, snappier and better than the one we debuted at Spank last August — and we liked that one!
- Can anyone tape it? If I could get two people — one for closeups and one for a wide shot, that’d be great. Though I’d settle for just [...]
This might be my favorite sketch of all time: Blood Donor. Rob wrote it and it opened our first few Game Face shows. It is my pleasure to be in this!

The peanut butter is new for the video version.
