Fastidious. That’s a fun one. I am not fastidious but I do enjoy the way that collection of syllables sounds.
I’m mentioning Kevin only because he’s upset that his name in my tag cloud is slightly smaller than our other brother, whom I can’t name because then I would have to tag him. This is straight-up tag cloud affirmative action. Quotas, people. Start your virtual protests now at this artificial market correction: Kevin Hines. There.
That is the music video for the Elvis Costello song “The Only Flame In Town.” Among the many things disturbing and uncomfortable about this video:
- The saxophone
- The presence of Darryl Hall
- The idea that any women would be excited about winning a date with Elvis Costello or the Attractions. I mean, some women would. But not the women hired to be in this video.
- The terrible acting of each of The Attractions when presented with his date.
- The idea of doing a video for this song at all, because this song is a terrible, super-80s version of what otherwise might be a Good [...]
I see that phrase a fair amount: “a rare and beautiful thing.” Most recently in an ESPN baseball article.
Is that phrase part of a quote? Did it definitely originate somewhere?
